Customer Overview

The Buckingham Arms Hotel Gilberton South Australia is an old-school venue with a quaint feel offering pub food as well as a drive-thru bottle shop, gaming room, functions spaces and front bar with TAB and Lottery facilities.

The Challenge

The issue was the cost of running a kitchen in low volume / quieter times coupled with customers after 10pm had no food options. If they could shorten kitchen hours, and reduce costs, while still offering patrons freshly cooked food, they would be in front.

The Meris Approach

The concept to reduce the kitchen hours needed to also provide a simple easy to use automated solution that provided a good ROI. The target to break even for investment in Perfect Fry equipment was $35 a day in food sales, with 16 hours of gaming. The Meris team also provided a new menu.

The Results

The Buckingham Arms were able to offer tasty, fresh hot food which exceeded sales expectations. They were also able to reduce the Kitchen open hours to cater for full meal options- which saved $4,500 per week in labour costs. This not only provides the overall return on investment extremely attractive it gives business owners different food options.

The Buckingham needed to make sales of $35 a day to break even. With 16 hours in a gaming room, this became a pretty easy target to achieve.

Sales between 12-5 pm far exceeded expectation. Many people opted for a hot snack over a full meal, so this in itself was a success.

On top of this, since installing the Perfect Fry, they have saved $4,500 per week in labour costs by not having the kitchen open for as many hours.
