The impact of commercial restaurant equipment on the growth of the fast food sector

A recent GapMaps report reveals that from July 2021 to 2022, the Restaurant and QSR sector reported a net increase of over 150 stores across Australia. This growth encompasses various brands, each requiring essential restaurant equipment to operate efficiently. The report tracked 28 high-profile brands over more than 6,700 locations and identified that over the past year 275 branches opened, 118 stores closed within the past 12 months.

Combined, openings were reported at 275, including but not limited to;

McDonalds (31), KFC (26), Subway (25), Sushi Hub (23), Domino’s (21).

Victoria accounted for the highest growth of stores at 47 openings.

In Comparison, closures were reported at 118, including but not limited to;

Subway (41), Nando’s (15), Pizza Hut (12), Zambrero (8), as well as Hungry Jacks (6) and Mad Mex (6). Both New South Wales and Queensland accounted for the highest loss of stores at closures.
