Keeping up with international trends in Dubai

Michael Brick, Director of Meris Food Equipment has just returned from Dubai where he attended Gulfood 2016. The show had more than 90,000 attendees from more than 160 countries.

“It’s important to be ahead of the latest food trends internationally so we can share this knowledge with our customers.” said Michael Brick. “I was able to source some new and interesting products and also noted a real increase in the popularity of American style food such as ribs and burgers, similar to the trend here in Australia”

“Another interesting thing that I saw was the use of graphics on equipment, like the King Edward Potato Oven (see image left). It’s like Pimp my Potato instead of Pimp my Ride !”

Neumarker were displaying a new crepe maker at Gulfood which we will look to make available to our customers in coming months. This crepe maker has cooking plates both top and bottom enabling you to cook both sides of a crepe at once, thereby saving preparation time and making it simpler to use.
