Meet The Team

Michael Brick recalls his foray into food fondly. Alongside his father and brother, Michael embarked on a journey to build ‘Perfect Fry Co Australia’. Later rebranding as Meris Food Equipment, the team embraced more trade shows, more cooking, better showrooms and range of clients. From the outset, he recalls the great clients being fellow family businesses.

“We found great personal reward and heartfelt warmth from our customers that returned to exclaim what our contribution to their business did for them. Put kids in school. Paid for weddings. Helped them expand. Gave them the town’s ‘best hot chips!’. Hearing how you contributed to the lives of others and their families is a reward hard to match,” says Michael.

25 years later and Meris is still driven by people first and foremost. Exemplary service is at its core, driven by an unshakeable ethos of feeding and uniting, prioritising customers over sales. Michael and his team want nourishing, fresh and vibrant food offerings to be accessible for more businesses unsure about branching out into new offerings, be it a delicious sandwich, dim sim or a hot pie.

  • What is your favourite part about working here at Meris?
    It’s a good place to be, people are fun, good at what they do and happy to pitch in and help others. We have great customers and genuinely get a buzz from helping build their business.
  • What is your favourite pass-time for when you’re not in the office?
    Regressing my age to that of my kids and spending an afternoon acting like a 6 year old with them.
  • What is your favourite on-the-go food?
    Simply can’t walk past a great potato cake.
  • What’s your favourite product/equipment?
    The Perfect Fryer is the sentimental favourite, the Flexeserve is the new kid on the block but they all have their own claim to fame.

    Working with our clients, making a difference in their businesses. Watching the growth of their food sales and the impact on that brings.
  • What is your favourite pass-time for when you’re not in the office?
    Spending time with my family, my kids and their sport and activities, local footy, camping, holidays.

    Bacon and Egg Muffin is hard to go past.

    We have a lot of great equipment that our clients love, but I think we have the greatest impact for our clients with our advice. It may not be a product, but it’s often the little things that can make a great change.

    The positive culture promotes collaboration and teamwork.
  • What is your favourite pass-time for when you’re not in the office?
    Away from the office I enjoy water skiing on the Murray and occasionally getting out on the dirt bike.

    I can’t go past a good old fashioned Potato cake as a treat occasionally.

    The Perfect Fryer PFA – Every time you show someone the Perfect Fryer they’re always amazed, such a unique product that continues to solve customers problems and deliver exceptional sales growth.
    And The Neumarker Changeable Waffle Iron – An inexpensive addition to any kitchen that can deliver a great smelling and tasting product with good margins. The changeable plates gives our customers the ability to rotate through different designs to keep their menu fresh and interesting.

    If I have a free weekend it’s 4WD /camping and cooking on open fire.

    Vietnamese BBQ pork banh mi.

    Perfect Fryer because of how easy it makes having a deep fryer set up in venues where traditional ones couldn’t go.
